Discover. Sip. Taste.
Did you know that San Diego is the birthplace of wine in California? Located on the coast with close proximity to Mexico, San Diego is often referred to as “America’s Finest City”. Famous for its long-pristine beaches, fun attractions and consistent Mediterranean climate make it a top tourist destination. Although it’s widely known for craft breweries, the wine industry is making a recent comeback.
San Diego County is home to 115 wineries, made up of small family-owned boutique wineries spanning the countryside, and urban wineries that are sprinkled about the city and along the coast. Rhone and Italian varietals do very well here due to the climate, as do many other varietals in this diverse region. The 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition presented numerous awards to various wineries affirming the winemaking talent and quality wines throughout this county. The authentic, unique, and personal experiences of this region are sure to thrill and inspire any wine lover.
